10 things you need to do immediately you publish a blog post
What do you do to your blog post immediately after you click publish? Do you forget about it and only hope it will gain traction effortlessly?
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way.
If all you do is publish your excellently crafted blog post and then forget about it, then you are missing out on huge opportunities to get traffic and make money. Publishing a blog post is only the beginning of what it takes to get traffic to your site.
What you do after you publish your blog post is what determines the amount of traffic and revenue you’ll generate thereafter.
Most bloggers spend a great deal of time on writing terrific content but skip the most important part, which is the task of getting it to the desired audience.
I learned an awesome way to blog effectively: to spend 80% of my time promoting my content and 20% creating the content.
You need to devote more time to sharing your blog posts. There are tons of people who would love to read your blog post.
Having a solid content marketing plan is key to your blog’s growth.
It’s become a norm for most bloggers to click “publish” and lift up their hands in absolute surrender from further work on their published blog post. At best, they post it out on social media and that’s all there is to it.
Here are 10 strategies you can use to promote your blog post and accelerate your blog growth.
#1. Deploy a social media campaign to drive more traffic
What do I mean by this? I mean, buy media ads to promote your blog post, especially if it’s a lead magnet or your product page.
The easiest and most common is Facebook advertising.
Buying ads helps you to target your desired audience, and also jump-starts traffic for your newly published blog post.
#2: Get involved in Blogger outreach
Blogging is not a stand-alone business. Reach out to other bloggers by commenting on their posts, sharing their posts, and answering questions where you can. Always be ready to help.
My friend, Ryan Biddulph, of blogging from Paradise, does this excellently. He believes you should give what you want to receive. And he demonstrates this too well.
He freely comments on blog posts, even if it’s a new blog. This has earned him a great deal of popularity and blog growth.
Most blog owners love it when you comment on their posts for various reasons.
- It gives social proof of the content.
- It allows your readers to give you feedback on your post.
- It’s a great place to generate topics for new posts.
When you leave a comment on a blog post, the writer of the post or the blog owner will respond to it. And some responses bring you back to further answers.
The blog owner will most definitely know you and want to go check out your blog.
He will most likely leave a comment on your blog. I will endeavor to respond to comments as soon as possible.
Blog commenting is not an easy job, but it’s highly rewarding in the long run.
If you want to send traffic to your blog post and increase your popularity, increase your blog commenting effort.
#3: Watch out for where your keyword is mentioned.
The tool I use for this is Google Alert.
Go to google.com/alert and sign up. It’s great for tracking web content.
Enter a search term for the topic you want to track.
Google Alerts send notices to your e-mail when it has found an instance of the keyword you set up to monitor.
These messages are current and newly published. This gives you the opportunity, in most cases, to be the first to comment on the post and get the attention of the content writer and the readers of the blog post to your blog.
#4. Send your new blog post out to your email list.
Create an enticing piece of your blog post and send this to your email subscribers to notify them of your new blog post. A good number of your subscribers will visit your page. And if your content is an evergreen resource that offers solutions to the problems associated with your keyword, they will definitely share it.
#5: Look for backlinks for the blog post:
Make infographics for the post. reach out to bloggers that may be willing to publish it in their posts. You get visitors from the other blog to visit your blog, and you also get a backlink.
Backlinks are important for increasing your page authority and giving you a higher ranking in search engines.
#6: Join a community where you share each others blog post.
There are several social media communities you can join to promote your content. Notably, the Facebook groups.
I collaborate on several of them, and this has helped a lot to improve my blogging experience and grow my blog.
Here’s a list of the exclusive Facebook groups for you to find collaborators for your blog post-marketing.
#7: Build a community where you share each others blog post.
Building your own community is very different from joining pre-existing communities. When you create your own community, you will set the rules based on your vision for the group. This isn’t such a difficult task to complete because many blog owners in your niche are just getting started and have no traffic, no email subscribers, and no advertising budget. These bloggers will almost certainly be willing to work together to promote their new posts.
Contact these bloggers and request collaboration, while emphasizing that growing your blogs quickly will require active participation.
Do you want to know how to find collaborators?
It’s straightforward. Use search engines to find your niche keywords. Skip the first two pages and go straight to the third, as you’re looking for blogs that aren’t yet popular but have good content
Write to the blog owners and explain how they will benefit from working with you.
Surprisingly, I received 100% positive feedback when I did this.
This method is superior to joining an already established group because it is similar to a secret group that admits only a few people who are eager to work together to advance their blogs. If you want to be a part of this group, please send me an email through my contact form with the subject “SECRET GROUP.”
Another effective method for finding collaborators is to go to Pinterest and search for people in my niche. I am especially concerned with my followers and followers.
#8. Create stunning pins for your new blog post and publish on Pinterest.
You can share your newly published blog post on your Pinterest board in addition to your group. Make at least two pins that are both visually appealing and shareable.
Post these pins to the Pinterest board that is most relevant to the keyword of your newly published blog post.
You are not required to post to the board you created solely on Pinterest.
Because Pinterest is more of a search engine than a social platform, make sure you post your pin to the appropriate board for the keyword you want to rank for.
By doing so, Pinterest immediately associates your keyword with the board, which improves your pin ranking.
Then, for maximum exposure, post it to your exclusive board and groups boards.
As the name implies, group boards are boards that the owners have set up for collaborative work.
contributors who offer their content to the boards are welcomed by the Pinterest board owners.
Because these are collaborative boards, your pins will receive more exposure and traffic than if you posted them to your Pinterest account boards.
If you haven’t already, here’s a comprehensive list of group boards in various themes (how to pick a successful niche) that you can join right now to start advertising your material. This includes the letter I send to group board owners requesting an invitation to cooperate on their board.
#9: Post your new post on various social media platforms
Share your blog post on social media immediately you publish it. In addition, Add social media sharing elements to your blog post so that your readers can share your post as well, to their prefered social media platforms.
One social media platform I share my post immediately I publish it is Pinterest, this may not be your choice or best platform to promote your post. Find out the best social media platform for promoting blog post in your niche.
And schedule your blog post to share on your social media platform more than once.
#10: Syndicate your blog post on medium.com
Medium is a very important platform when it comes to content. Medium offers an import tool that you can use to import existing blog posts from other platforms to Medium.com.
I’ll admit, I haven’t done this yet but I intend to very soon.
Medium.com is a place to republish your old post to get extra traffic to your blog. And the best part is there is no fear of duplicate content as medium uses medium passes the authority to the original site the content came from.
Conclusion
It’s not sufficient to write and publish an epic blog post. Follow it up with the above strategies to give it the optimal exposure it deserves to drive traffic to it.
These strategies are not final and conclusive. Perhaps you might have addictions, and your thoughts will be highly appreciated. Please share in the comment below.

Hi Eki,
There is no doubt the very first thing after publishing a blog post is to promote it. Promotion will help to grab more traffic, more followers and improve influence.
When promoting content on social media one should focus on thee target audience. Don’t just blindly promote the content. It is always good when you appreciate the work of others also. This help you to build strong influencer relationships.
Glad you have shared some awesome points.
You’re absolutely correct, Gaurav! Some one said, “promote your content 80% of the time and write 20% of the time.” Best way to get result for your blogging effort. Thanks, Gaurav!
Hi Eki
I like your post-pub list, and am anxious to start doing some Pinterest syndication myself.
Of course, you can go crazy and spread yourself thin trying too many things, so best to choose ONE.
Get it going, then add another… etc.
Keep what works, drop what doesn’t, and you’ll develop your own personalized promo system.
Love the info and the heart behind it 🙂
