Now, which headline sound more catchy, credible and clickable?

“My recipe for making doughnuts.”

Or  “The best recipe ever for making finger linking doughnuts”

Your guess is as good as mine.

Writing catchy headlines is one of the key elements in getting your post shared.

I guess you want your content to go viral,  right?

Who wouldn’t?

The benefit is huge!

The thought of getting thousands or millions of audience viewing your post is amazing, and it can take your business to a great height.

I figured that’s why you’re willing to work hard to do a correct keyword search, writing lengthen articles and use visual  (like you’ve been taught by online instructors) to produce content after content.

Despite the hard work, you’re not getting traffic to your site.

And you’ve been wondering what could be responsible for the low clicks and traffic regardless your conscientious effort to write your post.

Perhaps, you’ve been neglecting to put in the much-needed effort to write the best catchy headlines for your post.

Writing a catchy headline sells your content any day.

So, today you are going to learn how to write the best catchy headlines to pull readers to your blog.  But first, let me tell why I had to write this post.

My little story
For sometimes now my blog is being up.  Six months to be precise.

And I discovered that blogging is really hard work that requires a lot of studies,  research and content writing; contrary to what I heard before coming into blogging.

This is exactly what I’ve been doing on my blog.

I bet you know that yourself by now if you’ve been blogging for some time.

To my utmost surprise, I stumbled on a headline analyser in the process of carrying out my research for an article.

Before now, I didn’t even know there was anything called a headline analyser. I’m a self-trained blogger, and so nobody to tell me.

There were several headline analyzers, but the one I chose to use was the one by Coshedule

I signed in and decided to test the headlines of the articles 1’ve been writing,  what I received as my score was alarming.

The result was nothing to write home about, as the scores were incredibly low.

The range of the score was between 56% to 62%. This result was not good enough to produce catchy headlines.

But the great thing about this headlines analyser is that its a guide that gives you instant feedback.

On one occasion I had to write a blog post on divi theme review.  Incidentally, this is the blog theme I use.

I think you’ll agree with me when I say, “there are many divi theme reviews online already.”

I knew I needed to write something that’ll stand out.

So, one of my strategies to do this was to come up with attention-grabbing headlines and choose the best to use.

Now, look at one of the headlines I came up with, “the best divi review in 2018.”

This is good, right?

Well… not really.

When I tested it with the headline analyser, I scored  67.

This score wasn’t good enough for me.  I wanted something from 75 upwards to get more clicks, shares, traffic, and ultimately more sales.

This score was based on the analysis of the overall structure, grammar, and readability of my headline, using specific elements: These are my usage of common, uncommon, emotional and power words.

I’ve mentioned earlier that this catchy headlines analyzer is a good guide too.

Looking at my headline the score for common words and power words were 34% and 17% respectively, while the scores for emotional and uncommon words were both 0%.

That’s when I realised I had to go searching for fitting emotional words and uncommon words.

And do you know what? I stumbled on an article while searching.

Which I’d love to share with you. I believe it’ll help you in writing the best headlines.

It’s an article written by Buzzsumo that analyzed 100 million headlines to know what makes them perform or fail.

Here is what I found, the most engaging headline phrases were, “will make you,” “this is why,” “can you guess,”  …

Since my goal was to come up with the best catchy headline, I picked “will make you” the phrase that commands the most click and simply added it to my headline.

Which gave me the blog title, “the best divi theme that will make your blog a success.”

The next thing I did was to test it again with coschedule headline analyser.

What I saw was a great wow!

My headline score had jumped to 79. No doubt, this was a massive improvement from 67.

Looking at the pix above, You can see for yourself the power, emotional, common and uncommon words have improved.

One thing though, I don’t stress over getting my uncommon words right if I have hit my headline score target.

This is exactly the way I come up with catchy headlines for my blog post.

You can do same too.

All you have to do is take the steps I took, and you’ll come up with catchy headlines readers can’t resist clicking and sharing.

Your headline is a front door to your content, so make sure it’s catchy enough.

Use the analyser,  use the right words,  you will come up with better headlines.
